This large Cotswolds project involved a complete rebuild and extension of the house alongside a full redesign of the garden, orchard and field beyond. The brief called for a garden that would connect the house to its wider landscape, and the design opens up far-reaching views from the house up through the orchard and into the field, where we planted over fifty new trees and 150 metres of native hedgerow.
A great deal of care went into the garden's bones — the reclaimed york stone paving, and the new retaining walls, clad in beautifully hand-dressed stone. This attention to material and detail gives the garden its sense of permanence: though only four years old, it feels as though it has been there far longer.
